About the event
Michelle Mulligan has been an artist all of her life. While she dabbled in pottery, most of her art career focused on drawing, watercolors, pastels, charcoal, and oil. While living in Northern Virginia, she worked at the Smithsonian Associates Studio Art Program where she had the opportunity to show a painting at the S.Dillion Ripley Center at the Smithsonian Institute.
Ten years ago, Michelle returned to pottery and the endless possibilities of form, decoration, use, and feel of uniqueness of being hand made. She tries to imagine each piece in the hands of the user. Michelle believes that pottery helps us keep in mind our history, permanence and satisfying use of earth's resources.
In this workshop, Michelle will teach us the basic hand building clay skills. We will make a lavender-inspired dish (4.5" by 6.5"), suitable for soap or jewelry, as well as a small surprise. These make great gifts…
